Our fellow City Daily Photo blogger 'A.', photographer and webmaster, is missing in Teheran!

He has done a remarkable job covering the protests in the streets of his city. His blog, Teheran 24, has been daily updated until it was blocked in Iran last wednesday. From then on he has used his page on Facebook to spread the word. His last message dates from saturday, 10h20 am...

Meanwhile LIFE magazine published many of his photos on the saturday editon, the exact day he disappeared.
Family and friends think the police took him and they have no news until now...

has also done a post. I suggest we use our influence as daily photo bloggers and all do a post to try and reach as many people as possible to try and have some political influence in ensuring his safety. What do others think? Lets try and do more than feel sorry/bad/helpless about the situation.
Maybe we could change 1 July theme day to now be a plea for information about a fellow blogger.

I don't think changing the July theme day is such a good idea, however I definitely like the idea of doing something special for covering the Iran turmoil.

An idea that just came to mind would be a separate page for Tehran photo blogs, it would be like the front page of the portal, except it only displays Tehran blogs and other Iran blogs.

Portland DP/Tehran 24 is now posting as Green and commenters should avoid referring to the author by name, for his protection.

I'm very worried about publishing his full name here in the public forum, and in our Google indexed blogs. I may be being overly cautions, but this photographer may have been rounded up for having a camera on the street, not because they know he has a powerful blog. If we make him a personal "cause", is it possible his treatment in detention could be made worse? Could bloggers honor him without displaying his name? At least for now?

Does anyone know a civil rights lawyer or other seasoned activist who could advise us on this particular case?

I know I always feel better when I feel I can "do" something to support a group member, especially in such dire circumstances, but I think we should think carefully about this. If his name starts to be circulated by the public press (LIFE magazine DOES NOT identify him by name), then these precautions would be a moot point.

Also remember that "Comments" on the blogs are indexed by Google too, so if you use his name there, it connects him as well.

I have a post up in support and have adjusted the wording after being alerted by Mo.

I am in with a special day if it can be arranged. There is a good image on the Seattle blog of a ribbon of green running through a crowd of people. That has appropriate symbolism.

I've already done a post in support, and I'm up for the special challenge. Probably this one can be "green".
